MATCH PREVIEW: ROTHBURY v. GOSFORTH BOHEMIANS

MATCH SPONSORS - Local builders' Alan Arkle and Sons are the match sponsors and the club thanks the firm for their valuable and continued support.

Rothbury boss Danny Olson says the season starts now as the squad prepares for the visit of Gosforth Bohs.

With the clubs occupying 14th and 15th positions in the table respectively – Bohs having played a game more – he is looking for a positive reaction from the players.

“For the first time this season we have an almost fully fit and available squad with the exception of Gaz Rickerby, Tom McPherson, James Jackson and Connor Mason,” said Olson.

“We have worked extremely hard this past week in training and the boys look refreshed and determined. We are settling down now everyone at the club knows what the expectations are and we fully expect to kick start our season from Saturday.”

The Reds’ gaffer anticipates the visitors arriving on the front foot but is confident in his side’s abilities.

“We know Bohemians will be well organised and will pose a major threat to us. But I am in no doubt of what we can achieve and what we are capable of. We look forward to the challenge and just hope we can deliver a performance matching the efforts of everyone at the club.”

The Benson Park side have had a tricky start to the season, being beaten by sides in the top three and drawing with sides in mid-table. The disappointing defeat to Forest Hall saw them drop into 15th spot, just below Rothbury, and the 15 goals they have conceded is just one less than the Reds, as both teams will look to get their seasons going with a win. But with just four points between Bohs and sixth-placed FC United of Newcastle, it is early days and the table will shuffle constantly over the coming weeks where three points could see any team rocket up the positions. The fixture has added spice as former Red’s striker Michael Old lines up for the visitors.
