Rothbury v FC United of Newcastle
Saturday 28th September 2019 kick-off 2.30pm
Northern Football Alliance Division One
Rothbury’s ranks were boosted in
midweek as midfielder Alex Laviers rejoined the Reds from Premier Division
Shankhouse.
But with Kyle Smith serving the final match
of a three game suspension and others unavailable or injured, the Coquetdalers
aren’t quite yet back to full strength.
“It is looking like we have a much
stronger squad than the last time we played FC United, although we still have a few key
ones missing,” said manager Dan Herron ahead of the fixture, which sees the two
sides meeting for the second time in a month.
“We’ve never had full strength yet this
season. It will be good to have Kyle back next week after his ban that should
never have been,” he continued, after the midfielder was given his marching
orders in the previous meeting between the sides which resulted in a 3-1 win
for the black and whites.
After two weekends of Cup action that
have seen the Reds progress in both the Combination and League Cups, Herron is also
keen to get more points on the board.
“It will be good to get back to basics
in the league and look for 3 points,” said Herron, who is also hopeful that the
side can continue the form that they have shown during those Cup exploits.
“We’ll be asking to lads to do the same
as they did in the cups - get the basics right and the rest will come. We know
what to expect from FC United, but are hoping to play much better football at
home, and not with depleted numbers this time!”
