MATCH PREVIEW: NO FIXTURE FOR REDS THIS WEEKEND

MATCH PREVIEW

Rothbury are without a game this weekend – the Reds host Gosforth Bohemians at Armstrong Park on Saturday 3rd October in their next fixture – so manager Danny Olson took the time to reflect on his first three months at the club.

“It’s been a strange season so far but we can see a solid foundation being set for the future development of the football club,” he said.

“From a playing perspective we have kept the nucleus of the previous squad and added a couple of quality additions in key areas with more to come over the coming weeks.”

“The players are responding to a much more structured and punishing schedule and it is only a matter of time before things come together on the field. Special praise to our debutant teens this season who have stepped up to the mark and we as a management group are very proud of them,” continued Olson.

“The senior players have been instrumental in the teens’ progress and they are very supportive and encouraging of the young lads. The results haven’t been good but we can slight signs of understanding and development individually and as a team.”

The boss was also full of praise for the backroom at Armstrong Park and offered a big thank you to them all.

“Emily is looking after the players well being and injuries and is doing a sterling job, Dan makes sure the players are well looked after in training and on match days, and without Rob being the go-between with management and players we would miss a lot that’s going on outside of football and all three are doing a great job on a voluntary basis. Eric also does a fantastic job with the pitch and we’re delighted that he has the equipment to meet his exceptional high standards now.”

The UEFA A coach and experienced former professional has a vision for future development and is also thankful for the support that has been shown from the Coquet Valley.

“The next phase is to establish a more solid style of play and becoming a more settled and consistent group. But over all in terms of the long-term project we are on track. Further more without the support of the sponsors supporters and town in general we wouldn’t be able to progress, so a massive thanks to all involved,” said Olson.
