Cramlington United v. Rothbury
Northern Football Alliance Division One
14/03/20 kick-off 2.30pm
Despite the fixture suspensions and uncertainty surrounding
football due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Reds game at Cramlington United
has got the green light to go ahead.
With the Leagues and clubs monitoring the situation and
responding accordingly, it is a worrying time for local football and has a
similar feel to the Foot and Mouth situation in 2000.
“I see the Northern League and Sunday Leagues are all
suspending. To be fair it’s more about vulnerable spectators rather than the
players themselves. We’re happy to take whatever steer we’re given from the FA,”
said manager Dan Herron.
With the hosts reaching both the Finals of the Combination
and Northumberland FA Minor Cup, where they will meet Bedlington and Jesmond
respectively, the Northburn side have got their tails up.
“It should be a good game. They’re obviously in really good
form, so fair play. We know we’re going to have to be on it to get a result.
Hopefully we can get a bit of luck for a change!” said Herron.
The Northburn Centre Café is open for the fixture with hot
dogs and hot drinks available for anyone making the trip down to follow the
Reds.
