Northern Football Alliance Division One
Saturday 7th March, kick-off 2.30pm
Rothbury make the trip down to the coast to face Whitley Bay SC tomorrow.
The Reds faced Bay on three occasions during their
championship winning season last term and ran out winners each time.
But boss Dan Herron’s side has seen a number of new faces
added, and a few move on, since then and he’s expecting the game to be another
tough one.
“Our games against Whitley Bay BC last season were
competitive, apart from the deciding one at home where we were rampant,” he
said.
“We went 2-0 down last time we played there in terrible
wind, managed to scruff a lucky 3-2 victory which was also pivotal in the title
race, and the 5-0 just cemented that gap,” he continued, as the Deneholm outfit
pressed hard in the title race before achieving promotion as runners-up.
Bay are three points ahead of the Coquetdalers in tenth spot
but have two games in hand and while Herron is keen to get more points on the
board, he has been satisfied by the way his side have gone about their business
on the pitch. And with 13 games to go, there is time for the Reds to refind that winning groove.
“We won’t be changing the style of play – we’re still trying
to get it down and play attractive stuff. It’s been positive the last two weeks
with regards to the passing/moving. We just need to try and get the result to
match a performance!” he said.
Please note that the Alliance has now reverted to 2.30pm kick-off times.
