Felling Magpies v Rothbury
Northern Football Alliance Division One
Saturday 4th January 2020, kick-off 2.00pm
Dan Herron’s Reds can’t wait to get back into action after
the festive break.
After a stuttering end to 2019 that was hampered by sodden
pitches and postponements, Rothbury are looking to hit the ground running into
the New Year.
They are on the road this weekend to basement side Felling
Magpies, who are yet to register a win this season.
But Herron is too wily a campaigner to read too much into that
statistic; his side have a knack of meeting opponents just as they hit form,
and the Mags picked up their first point of the season last month when they
held Gosforth Bohs to a 1-1 draw.
The Reds were 5-2 winners at Felling in the George Dobbins
League Cup back in September, so the trip will hold no surprises.
“We’re waiting to hear on squad news, but
we should have a good team to start off the New Year well,” said the manager,
who his drilled into his side the need to be at their best if they are to take
anything from the fixture.
“Like I’ve always said, there’s no easy
game in the Alliance so we’ll have to be at it to get 3 points! We’re all ready
to get the festive period out the way and back into a routine for sure,” said
Herron.
Rothbury go into 2020 in a steady mid-table berth with 4
wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats from their 11 League fixtures so far and will be
looking to put a little run of form together ahead of their important
Combination Cup semi-final at Bedlington on the 18th January.
