TOM MAC'S FINGERS CROSSED THAT VISIT TO SPITTAL CAN BEAT WEATHER

Rothbury coach Tom Macpherson is keeping his fingers crossed that Saturday’s trip to Newfields Park can beat the frosty weather.
The Reds will make their way up to Berwick looking to maintain the pressure on leaders Whitley Bay SC while Rovers have their own promotion ambitions.
Macpherson knows the Rovers side well and is prepared for another keenly fought contest.
“We’ve met Spittal twice this season so we know what to expect - they are tireless in midfield and solid at the back,” he said.
Macpherson also revealed that the squad had been handed a boost in terms of player availability for the game.
“When we’ve faced Rovers so far we haven’t had our strongest squad, but it’s looking like we will have everyone available apart from the suspended Kyle Smith this weekend,” continued Macpherson.
Spittal were 3-0 victors over Whitley Bay back in December and have won their last two fixtures, while Rothbury are unbeaten in the League since the opening day and are keen to keep it that way.
“It could be an interesting weekend in the League with all of the top eight playing each other, but we just have to keep concentrating on ourselves in the run in,” he said.
